PM to Confer Ekushey Padak Today

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is set to honor the nation’s distinguished citizens by presenting the Ekushey Padak 2026, the country’s second-highest civilian award.

The Prime Minister will preside over the ceremony at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in Dhaka today, Thursday (February 26), at 11:00 AM.

The Ceremony
The event will be attended by the award recipients, members of the Cabinet, high-ranking military and civil officials, and invited dignitaries.

The Ekushey Padak is being conferred this year to individuals who have made "glorious and outstanding contributions" across various vital sectors of national life, including literature, arts, science, and social service.

A Busy Schedule
Following the state ceremony at the auditorium, the Prime Minister has a significant cultural engagement in the afternoon.

Book Fair Inauguration: He will travel to the Bangla Academy and Suhrawardy Udyan premises to officially inaugurate the Amar Ekushey Book Fair 2026.

Chief Guest: As the chief guest of the year’s largest cultural gathering, he will formally declare the month-long fair open to the public.
