State Guest House Jamuna, located on Hare Road, has been selected as the official residence for Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. The decision was made to ensure the head of government's security and to facilitate smoother commutes to the Secretariat.

The residence is currently occupied by the Chief Adviser of the recently dissolved interim government, Professor Muhammad Yunus. According to the Government Accommodation Directorate of the Ministry of Housing and Public Works, Professor Yunus is scheduled to vacate the premises this Friday, February 27.

Renovation and Transition
The Public Works Department (PWD) confirmed that the Prime Minister expressed his intent to reside at Jamuna. Chief Engineer Md. Khaliquzzaman Chowdhury stated on Monday that the Prime Minister will move in following the completion of necessary renovations once the former Chief Adviser departs.

While the interim government was in power, alternative locations such as the National Parliament area and Sher-e-Bangla Nagar were considered for the new Prime Minister's residence.

However, sources from the Ministry of Housing and Public Works noted that those options were ultimately ruled out due to time constraints and other logistical factors.

Current Status
Current Residence: Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is presently residing at his private home in Gulshan.

Daily Commute: He is currently traveling from Gulshan to the Secretariat on Abdul Gani Road and the Prime Minister’s Office in Tejgaon for official duties.

Cabinet Housing: The Government Accommodation Directorate completed the allocation of residences for new Ministers and Ministers of State this past Wednesday, February 24.
