Khaleda Zia to Named ‘Best Indomitable Woman' for Women's Day 2026

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the late former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson, Begum Khaleda Zia, is set to be honored with the prestigious ‘Best Indomitable Woman in the Advancement of Democracy’ award.

The Ministry of Women and Children Affairs announced the decision in a press release issued on Friday (February 7).

The ministry’s statement referred to Begum Khaleda Zia as the "Mother of Democracy" (Ganatantrer Manaskanya), noting that the award recognizes her "indomitable leadership in restoring democracy through uncompromising struggle" and her "extraordinary contributions to establishing democratic processes" in the country.

Award Ceremony Details
The honor will be formally conferred on Sunday, March 8, during a special program organized for International Women’s Day at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital.

The press release further noted that, consistent with previous years, five other women will be recognized as "Most Indomitable Women" across five distinct categories for their resilience and achievements:
