PM to Launch Honorarium Program for Imams and Muezzins Today

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is set to officially inaugurate a monthly honorarium program for Imams and Muezzins today, Saturday (March 14).

The ceremony is scheduled for 10:00 AM at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting confirmed the event through a formal message.

According to Imranul Hasan, the ministry's Public Relations Officer, the initiative will also extend to Khadems, priests, Sebayets, and Buddhist Vihara principals and vice-principals.

Allocation Breakdown under the Pilot Project
Under this new pilot project, specific monthly allocations have been established for various religious institutions:

Mosques (Total: 10,000 BDT):

Imam: 5,000 BDT
Muezzin: 3,000 BDT
Khadem: 2,000 BDT

Temples (Total: 8,000 BDT):

Priest: 5,000 BDT
Sebayet: 3,000 BDT

Buddhist Viharas (Total: 8,000 BDT):

Principal: 5,000 BDT
Vice-Principal: 3,000 BDT

Christian Churches (Total: 8,000 BDT):

Pastor/Priest: 5,000 BDT
Assistant Pastor/Priest: 3,000 BDT

The program aims to provide financial support to religious leaders across the country as part of a broader social welfare initiative.
