Mirza Abbas, Standing Committee member of the BNP and Political Advisor to the Prime Minister, has undergone brain surgery at Evercare Hospital in the capital. A specialist neurosurgical team successfully completed the procedure yesterday afternoon.

Prior to the surgery, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman visited Mirza Abbas at the hospital.

The medical board briefed the Prime Minister on the patient's condition, after which he spent time at the bedside and spoke with family members. Mirza Abbas's wife and President of the Nationalist Mohila Dal, Afroza Abbas, was present during the visit along with attending physicians.

Surgery and Current Status
The BNP’s Health Affairs Secretary, Dr. Rafiqul Islam, confirmed the completion of the procedure on Friday evening.

Procedure Duration: Approximately 3 hours and 45 minutes.

Current Location: He was moved to the Neuro ICU at 7:00 PM.

Observation: He remains under intensive medical supervision.

The decision to operate locally was made after a virtual medical board meeting reviewed a morning CT scan, which showed a deterioration in his condition.

Although there were initial plans to fly him to Singapore, the medical board—consisting of renowned specialists including Prof. Ali Quaderi, Prof. Kazi Deen Mohammad, and Prof. Shahabuddin Talukdar—decided immediate surgery was necessary.

Future Plans
While the surgery was performed in Dhaka, family sources indicate that once his condition stabilizes, Mirza Abbas will be transferred to Singapore for further treatment. All necessary arrangements, including an air ambulance, are reportedly on standby.

Mirza Abbas was originally admitted to Evercare Hospital last Wednesday after losing consciousness during Iftar. His family has requested the nation to pray for his swift recovery.
