Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has taken a firm stance to ensure the safety of women and children and to eliminate the culture of impunity in the country.

He has issued special directives to all relevant departments to settle cases of rape and violence against women within the shortest possible time.

Cabinet Secretary Nasimul Gani shared details of the Prime Minister’s instructions while speaking with reporters at the Secretariat on Tuesday (March 17).

The Cabinet Secretary stated that the Prime Minister emphasized increasing coordination among the Ministry of Law, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Judiciary, and other relevant departments to expedite the judicial process for sensitive cases like rape and abuse.

The Prime Minister noted that bringing criminals to justice swiftly is a top priority for the government.

The primary goal of this directive is to ensure that female victims do not fall prey to judicial procrastination or long delays.

During the Cabinet meeting chaired by the Prime Minister, a total of five important issues were discussed and decided upon.

Nasimul Gani informed that one of the key decisions was the approval of necessary changes to the supplementary budget for the current fiscal year.

The Cabinet has approved the proposed changes, which will soon be finalized through presentation in the National Parliament.
