Prime Minister Tarique Rahman stated today that the current government is determined to develop human resources that are merit-oriented, self-confident, creative, and responsible.
He emphasized that there is no alternative to building a merit-based, efficient, and people-friendly public administration across all state institutions to achieve the vision of a prosperous Bangladesh.
The Prime Minister made these remarks on Saturday morning (April 25) during a ceremony following the foundation stone laying of the third building of the BIAM Foundation in the capital's New Eskaton.
Strengthening Public Administration
Praising the role of the BIAM Foundation, the Prime Minister noted that the institution's journey from its inception to the present proves the BNP government's longstanding commitment to a highly skilled and trained public administration for the benefit of the country and its people.
"The government intends to maintain this momentum in the future," he added.
Reflecting the People's Will
Recalling the spirit of the student-led mass uprising of July-August 2024, Tarique Rahman said:
"The mass uprising of July-August 2024 has once again made it clear that the people are the true owners of this state. For a long time, the common people anticipated an accountable, justice-based, and welfare-oriented governance system. The current government is a reflection of that aspiration."
A Call for People-Oriented Bureaucracy
The Prime Minister further stressed that to build a modern and prosperous nation, the bureaucracy must become more people-centric. He placed special emphasis on training to ensure officials see themselves as servants of the public.
Following the foundation stone laying, he inspected the activities of the BIAM Foundation and exchanged views with senior officials. The event was attended by cabinet members, high-ranking government officials, and various dignitaries.
