Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is scheduled to visit Jashore district today, Monday (April 27). This marks his first visit to the district as Prime Minister following the parliamentary elections, a move confirmed by the Prime Minister’s Press Wing.
During the day-long visit, the Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for several development projects and address a major public rally in the afternoon.
Inauguration of Historical Ulshi-Yadunathpur Canal
The Prime Minister will begin his tour in Sharsha Upazila, where he is set to inaugurate the re-excavation of the historic Ulshi-Yadunathpur Canal, a project closely associated with the memory of the late President Ziaur Rahman. He is also expected to attend a gathering of local dignitaries at the site.
End of a 15-Year Wait for Jashore Medical College
In a significant move for the region’s healthcare and education sectors, the Prime Minister will formally lay the foundation stone for the Jashore Medical College Hospital.
Although the college was established in 2011, it has lacked its own hospital facilities for 15 years. Consequently, students have had to travel five kilometers to the General Hospital for practical training—a challenge this new project aims to resolve.
Grand Public Rally at Central Eidgah
Following a brief stay at the Circuit House, the Prime Minister will attend a massive public rally at the Jashore Central Eidgah Maidan as the chief guest. The event is being organized by the Jashore District BNP.
A festive atmosphere currently prevails across the district in anticipation of the Prime Minister’s arrival. Both the local administration and the BNP have undertaken extensive preparations to ensure the success of the visit.
