Efforts Underway to Implement Framework for Media Freedom: Information Minister

Information Minister Zahir Uddin Swapan has stated that work is currently in progress to implement a structural framework aimed at ensuring media freedom, following the directives of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.

The Minister made these remarks on Sunday (May 3) during the inauguration of a rally organized from the Officers' Club toward the Information Building in the capital.

"The ministry is working to implement the framework that was initially developed before the elections to protect media independence, as per the Prime Minister's instructions," the Information Minister said.

Zahir Uddin Swapan further emphasized the government's intent to instill and safeguard the spirit of press freedom within the national consciousness and intellectual landscape.

The Minister also extended his gratitude to media professionals for their collaboration with various stakeholders in successfully organizing the observance of World Press Freedom Day.
