BNP Secretary General and LGRD Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has firmly asserted that the people of this country will never bring Jamaat-e-Islami to power.

"Jamaat-e-Islami opposed our glorious independence in 1971, killed freedom fighters, and dishonored our mothers and sisters. Therefore, the people of this country will never allow them to assume power," he said.

The Minister made these remarks as the chief guest at a reception organized by the District BNP on Wednesday (May 20) at noon, held at the abandoned airport premises in Shibganj, Thakurgaon.

Upon arriving at the venue, the LGRD Minister inspected the abandoned airport. He was accompanied by Aviation Minister Afroza Khanam Rita and Minister of State for Aviation M Rashiduzzaman Millat.

The crowd erupted in cheers as the three ministers, including BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, arrived at the venue. They were welcomed with traditional dances by indigenous women and a shower of flower petals. All three ministers expressed that they were deeply moved by the public's affection during the grand red-carpet reception.

During his speech, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, "There is a party that practices politics in the name of religion. Do you know its name?" In response, the attending crowd shouted, "Jamaat-e-Islami."

Amidst the crowd's cheers, the minister replied, "You have to say the name loudly. Politics in this country cannot be run on lies and the pretext of religion. Politics must be practiced with the truth."

Chaired by District BNP President Mirza Faisal Amin, the public reception was also addressed by Dr. Israfil Shaheen, Vice-Chancellor of the newly formed university in Thakurgaon, local Members of Parliament Dr. Abdus Salam and Jahidur Rahman, and ESDO Executive Director Dr. Md. Shahid Uz Zaman, among others.

The event was attended by the Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation, high-ranking local government officials, civil society members, and party leaders and activists from various tiers.
