PM Condoles Heavy Casualties in China Coal Mine Blast

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has expressed deep grief over the massive loss of lives caused by a coal mine explosion in China's Shanxi province.

In a condolence message issued on Sunday (May 24), the Prime Minister extended his deepest sympathies to the bereaved families and the people of China on behalf of the government and the people of Bangladesh, according to a post on the Prime Minister's Office official Facebook page.

"Our prayers are with the rescue teams working tirelessly to treat the injured and search for the missing," the Prime Minister said in his message.

The Prime Minister also prayed that everyone affected by the disaster would find patience, courage, and solace.

The horrific gas explosion occurred last Friday at 7:29 PM local time at a coal mine in northern China's Shanxi province, leaving at least 90 people dead.

According to Chinese state media, 247 miners were working underground at the time of the accident.
