Govt Distributes Tk213 Crore to Road Accident Victims in Three Years

The government has distributed a total of Tk 213.56 crore in financial assistance to the families of road accident victims across the country over the past three-plus years.

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Rabiul Alam shared this information in the National Parliament on Monday (June 15) in response to a query from Nipun Roy Chowdhury, a ruling party member from the reserved women's seat.

The minister stated that from 2023 until May of this year, this financial grant was distributed among 5,084 road accident victims and families of the deceased.

According to the data presented by the minister in parliament, the families of those who lost their lives in road accidents benefited the most from this government assistance, with grants being handed over to the families of 3,881 deceased individuals.

He further informed the house that 829 people injured in road accidents and another 374 individuals who suffered grievous injuries received financial benefits from the government's welfare fund.
