
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is scheduled to visit Dhaka University (DU) today, Tuesday, July 14, for the second time since assuming office.
He will inaugurate an event titled "Youth, Startups, and the Bangladesh of Possibilities," held at the university’s Nawab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban at 9:30 AM.
The event is organized by the ICT Division in collaboration with Dhaka University.

A major feature of the program is the formal launch of the "National Startup and Entrepreneurship Platform." This digital initiative is designed to serve as a comprehensive national service portal for entrepreneurs, offering integrated access to:
The initiative aims to strengthen coordination, simplify access to services, and build a robust, tech-driven national startup ecosystem.
Program Schedule
Special Guests: The event will feature Minister of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Fakir Mahbub Anam and the Prime Minister’s Advisor for the same portfolio, Rehan Asif Asad.
Key Addresses: ICT Division Acting Secretary Md. Mamunur Rashid Bhuiyan will deliver the opening remarks, while Professor Dr. Md. Morshed Hasan Khan, a member of the event management committee, will offer the welcome address. Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. A. B. M. Obaidul Islam will deliver the vote of thanks.
Interactive Sessions: The program includes a documentary on Bangladesh's startup ecosystem, a "Not Just Stories, But Truth" experience-sharing session with successful entrepreneurs, and an open forum between the Prime Minister and the students.
Incentives: Grants will be distributed to selected startup entrepreneurs during the event.
Public Access: Following the inaugural ceremony, the program will be open to the public starting at 1:00 PM.
Strategic Focus on Youth Innovation
Aligning with the government’s 2026 election manifesto, which prioritizes economic growth and technological transformation, the current administration has established a 500-crore BDT startup fund.
This fund aims to support innovative projects from their inception through training, mentoring, and scaling.
The government is actively working to foster a knowledge-based economy by facilitating tech-driven employment and research, with a particular emphasis on empowering youth and women.
This visit follows the Prime Minister’s previous engagement at Dhaka University on May 12, where he participated in a workshop organized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) titled, "Transforming Higher Education in Bangladesh: Roadmap to Sustainable Excellence."
