Indian High Commissioner to Dhaka Dinesh Trivedi paid a courtesy call on Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman for the first time since assuming office. During the meeting, both sides emphasized advancing Bangladesh-India relations by prioritizing mutual interests between the two countries.

The meeting took place on Wednesday (July 29) afternoon at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Earlier in the day, the Indian High Commissioner also met with State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaid.

According to sources at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Trivedi arrived at the ministry at 3:40 PM and first met with State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaid Islam, followed by his courtesy meeting with Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman.

Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman said that Dhaka-Delhi relations will be taken forward on the basis of mutual interests. Both parties agreed to maintain close communication on issues of shared interest and to further strengthen existing cooperation.

The meeting featured exchanges of views on various matters of mutual interest, including bilateral relations, trade, connectivity, and regional cooperation between Bangladesh and India. Furthermore, emphasis was placed on maintaining regular communication to expand existing cooperation further.

At the same time, Indian High Commissioner Dinesh Trivedi stated that they are eagerly looking forward to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's visit to India. He expressed optimism that the visit would play a positive role in driving bilateral ties forward.
