Mirza Abbas, Member of Parliament for the Dhaka-8 constituency, has been appointed as the president of the management committee for the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

The appointment was announced in a notification issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Thursday (July 30).

According to the notification, Mirza Abbas Uddin Ahmed, MP, was nominated as the committee president by order. He serves as the lawmaker for Dhaka-8 and holds ministerial rank as the Prime Minister's Political Advisor.

The directive, signed by Kazi Sharif Uddin Ahmed, Deputy Secretary of the Health Services Division, instructed relevant authorities to take necessary steps regarding the appointment.

Mirza Abbas has been undergoing medical treatment abroad for an extended period at Prince Court Medical Center in Malaysia. Party sources indicate he is gradually recovering from his serious illness.

On March 11, Abbas fell suddenly ill at his Shajahanpur residence during Iftar and was admitted to Evercare Hospital in Dhaka. A medical board comprising leading national neuro-specialists performed brain surgery.

As his condition deteriorated, he was airlifted to Singapore General Hospital on March 15.

Following an improvement in his condition, he was transferred from Singapore to Malaysia on April 13 for advanced physiotherapy and rehabilitation, where he continues to receive medical care.
