Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Dinesh Trivedi has remarked that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's visit to India should take place sooner.

He reiterated his optimism that any issues between Bangladesh and India can be resolved through high-level meetings and close communication, according to UNB reports.

The Indian High Commissioner made these remarks while addressing a dinner hosted by Ireland's Honorary Consul Masud Jamil Khan and Kate Jarrah Khan in the capital's Baridhara diplomatic zone. He stated that Bangladesh and India not only share borders but also share common dreams in reality.

Regarding the resolution of existing problems in bilateral relations, he said, "Problems can only be solved through meetings, and I am very optimistic." He noted that the hearts of the people of the two countries are very close and that he envisions a "golden chapter" in Bangladesh-India relations.

The Indian envoy said, "Bangladesh and India are two sovereign countries." He added, "We have challenges. There is no doubt about that. And if there are no challenges, then it is not a democracy. No matter how messy democracy is..."

He further stated, "We need our own space. We have differences. We have debates. That is fine. But as long as our goal remains the same—that we want not only the people of these two countries but people all over the world to live with dignity, honor, and mutual respect for one another. And that is what we are trying to achieve. I sincerely want... my main goal is to establish a golden era between India and Bangladesh."

Highlighting his efforts to achieve this goal, the High Commissioner said, "We must move forward." The envoy described Prime Minister Tarique Rahman as truly a "people's leader" and Prime Minister Narendra Modi as similarly a leader of the people.

He said, "Both are leaders of the people and their intentions are the same. And that is why I have said many times in the media, where I have been asked about this, that when two such leaders sit together and communicate with each other, there is no problem or issue that cannot be discussed and resolved."

Ambassadors and High Commissioners of various countries stationed in Dhaka, former diplomats, business leaders, prominent citizens, and former civil and defense officials were also present at the event.

Earlier, on Saturday (August 15), while speaking at the celebration of India's 80th Independence Day at the Indian High Commission in Dhaka, High Commissioner Dinesh Trivedi emphasized the importance of advancing partnerships in key sectors and working together to further nurture the exceptional bond of friendship between Bangladesh and India.

He stated, "We recognize that people-to-people contact, built on shared aspirations and mutual goodwill, is the true beating heart of this enduring friendship."

Trivedi urged the two nations to work together toward shared prosperity. He noted that Bangladesh and India are advancing their partnerships in critical areas ranging from trade and connectivity to security and healthcare.

He said, "Let us continue to nurture this extraordinary bond of friendship between Bangladesh and India and work hand in hand toward shared prosperity."

Highlighting the foundation of the relationship, the High Commissioner noted that the two countries are bound by a shared history of struggle for independence, and their ties are built upon mutual respect and partnership. Trivedi stated, "Our bond is deeply intertwined because of the history of our independence struggles. Our relationship is continuously evolving on this firm foundation of shared history, mutual respect, and partnership."

He told journalists, "We look forward to moving ahead. We have the invitation. We positively believe that if the two leaders meet together, there will be discussions. In a democracy, there will be problems. If there are no problems, it is not a democracy. However, the only issue for the people is having good relations. If there are good relations, it is a win-win situation for everyone."
