Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has expressed profound shock and concern over the tragic loss of life and widespread devastation caused by flash floods and landslides in Nepal.

Concurrently, Bangladesh has extended its solidarity to the government and people of Nepal during this difficult time, assuring all possible assistance in rescue and relief operations.

Reports of over a hundred deaths and hundreds of missing persons—many of them tourists—emerged following the severe natural disaster in Nepal on Wednesday, August 26.

In a condolence message, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman stated, “The people of Bangladesh are deeply saddened and grief-stricken by the loss of life and destruction caused by the flash floods and landslides in Nepal. We are monitoring the latest updates on the situation. Hundreds of people remain missing, and many are feared dead, among whom are tourists.”

The message further stated that during this challenging time, the government and people of Bangladesh, under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, stand in solidarity with the government of Nepal and its friendly people.

Expressing deep condolences for those killed in the disaster, hope was expressed for the swift rescue of the missing and the provision of proper medical treatment for the injured.

The statement added that Bangladesh stands ready to provide all possible support to Nepal's relief and rescue operations.

Meanwhile, widespread damage has been reported across various areas following the sudden floods and landslides in Nepal.

With a large number of people still missing, casualties are feared to rise. Various agencies and rescue teams are currently working to locate and rescue the missing individuals.

Efforts are underway to rescue those trapped in disaster-stricken areas alongside initiatives to support the affected populations.

Local administrations and various rescue organizations, alongside the Nepalese government, are actively working to manage the crisis.
