Speaking at a public civic reception in Thakurgaon, President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir stated:

"No conflict, no clashes, no revenge; we want to truly build a society through love and affection."

He made these remarks while serving as the chief guest at the civic reception held on Sunday (September 6) at 3:00 PM at the Thakurgaon Government Boys' High School ground.

This is his first formal reception in his home district since assuming the presidency.

Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that following a long struggle and bloodshed for democracy, the country has been presented with an opportunity for a new journey.

Now our primary responsibility is to protect this democracy and strengthen democratic institutions.

Political differences will exist, but rather than engaging in conflict and clashes, a healthy stream of politics must be practiced through mutual dialogue.

Switching to the regional dialect of Thakurgaon to address the gathered crowd, the President became emotional.

He said, "I know you love me. So whatever I say, you will listen, right?" When the audience responded with a collective "Yes," he asked again, "How are you all doing? Are you well?"

Committing to the comprehensive development of the region, the President announced that land acquisition for the previously announced public university in Thakurgaon has been completed, and the recruitment process for teachers will begin shortly. He declared, "Tomorrow, Inshallah, the foundation stone of this university will be laid."

Furthermore, the President highlighted various government initiatives, including establishing a medical college in the district, constructing playgrounds at the upazila and union levels, building a modern information complex, setting up a regional office of the National University, and reopening the Shibganj Airport.

Placing special emphasis on boosting local employment, the President stressed the need to build agro-based industries in Thakurgaon.

He called upon the youth to stand against drugs and to emerge as entrepreneurs themselves rather than relying solely on jobs or contracting work.

Urging a return to tolerance in national politics, the President said that the greatest strength of democracy is tolerance.

We must create an environment where, forgetting divisions, every individual can live with their respective rights as a Bangladeshi citizen.

In the final segment of his speech, recalling memories of his childhood and birthplace while quoting lines by Rabindranath Tagore, President Mirza Fakhrul said,

"Let my name be known by this, I am one of you."

He expressed a firm commitment to work until the last day of his life to protect the independence, sovereignty, and democracy of the country and its people.

At the beginning of his speech, the President thanked the ministers, members of parliament, distinguished citizens, military and civilian officials, heroic freedom fighters, teachers, students, farmers, workers, and leaders of various political parties present on the stage.

He extended special greetings to local Rajbongshi and indigenous Sanatan religious minority communities, including Hindus, Muslims, Buddhists, and Christians. He also expressed deep respect and gratitude to his wife for fearlessly standing by his side throughout his long political career.
