A Dhaka court is set to deliver its verdict today, Monday (February 2), in two corruption cases involving ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her niece, Tulip Siddiq, regarding the illegal allotment of land plots.
The judgment will be announced at the Dhaka Special Judge's Court-4.
According to the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), Sheikh Hasina allegedly abused her power to order the allotment of 20 kathas of land in Purbachal for Azmina Siddiq and Radwan Mujib Siddiq Bobby—the children of her sister, Sheikh Rehana.
The investigation further claims that the accused concealed information regarding these immovable properties in their official affidavits.
The probe also reveals that Tulip Siddiq, a British Member of Parliament, allegedly influenced Sheikh Hasina to secure the plot allotments for her siblings.
A total of 22 individuals were charged by the ACC across the two cases.
Previously, Sheikh Hasina and members of her family were handed various prison sentences by the court in four other cases involving similar allegations.
