The Detective Branch (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police has detained Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, the former Speaker of the National Parliament.
According to DB sources, she was taken to the DB headquarters on Minto Road in the capital following her detention. She was apprehended at approximately 4:30 AM on Monday (April 6) from her residence on Road 8/A in Dhanmondi.
Confirming the development, Additional Commissioner of the DMP (DB), Md. Shafiqul Islam, stated, "She has been detained. Further details will be provided later."
Authorities have not yet released an official statement regarding the specific case or the grounds on which she was taken into custody.
