The government has promoted 196 Deputy Secretaries to Joint Secretaries in the administration. A gazette was issued on Thursday late night naming the 189 persons who were promoted. Name of the rest 7 persons will be published later in a gazette. These officers are at present on lien and deputation.
The promoted are made Officer on Special Duty (OSD) under Ministry of Public Administration. The information came through the gazette signed by Deputy Secretary of Public Administration Ministry Syeda Farhana Kaunain.
On the matter of issuing gazette in the late night Additional Secretary of Public Administration Ministry (Appointment, posting and deputation) Sheikh Yusuf Harun said, the Prime Minister signed it on Thursday night. The gazette was issued on the night as the following two days are weekly holidays.
On condition of anonymity an officer said, officers of the Public Administration Ministry left office after performing their duties. But they were called later to prepare the necessary documents for issuing gazette.
The Superior Selection Board (SSB) took BCS 13th batch for granted as the regular batch for promotion to the post of Joint Secretary. From this batch SSB scrutinized information of 165 officers and of them 120 persons were promoted.
The name of 45 Deputy Secretaries from the 13th batch were not in the list of promoted although they had qualifications. Besides, 48 Deputy Secretaries were promoted as Joint Secretaries who were deprived of promotion earlier from different batches.
Moreover, 21 officers from other cadres were made Joint Secretary.
In the gazette issued by Public Administration Ministry the listed first 47 Deputy Secretaries were the officers of different batches under BCS Administration cadre. They were deprived of promotion earlier. Now they are promoted.
In the serial from number 48 to 168 the name of BCS 13th batch officers were mentioned. After that to number 189 there were the names of other cadre officers.
Earlier on December 11 the government promoted 132 Joint Secretaries to Additional Secretaries. The Public Administration Ministry issued gazette in a list of 130 persons who were promoted as Additional Secretaries.
