Bus-CNG-Auto-Rickshaw Collision in Sherpur; Death Toll Rises to 6

The death toll from a head-on collision between a bus of Rifat Paribahan and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Sherpur has risen to six. Among the deceased, three are women and three are men. The identities of the victims have not been confirmed yet.

According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred at around 11 a.m. on Sunday (29 December) in the Bhatsala area of the Sherpur-Mymensingh highway, near the Jora Pump.

Five passengers of the auto-rickshaw died on the spot. One seriously injured individual was rescued by locals and taken to the district hospital, where doctors declared them dead. After receiving news of the accident, police and fire service teams rushed to the scene, with locals assisting in the rescue operation.

This information was confirmed by the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sherpur Sadar police station, Jubaydul Alam.

He stated that the police began the rescue work after arriving at the scene. The bodies were sent to the morgue, and efforts are ongoing to identify the victims.

According to eyewitness accounts, at around 11 am on Sunday, a passenger CNG vehicle travelling from Nokla to Sherpur and a bus from Roumari, Kurigram, heading to Dhaka collided head-on at Bhatsala Jora Pump in Sherpur. The auto-rickshaw was badly mangled, and five people, including the driver, died on the spot. Locals rescued one seriously injured person and took him to Sherpur district hospital, where duty doctor announced him dead.

Regarding this, Sherpur Fire Service Assistant Director Javed Hossain Muhammad Tarek confirmed the death of six individuals in the collision between the bus coming from Roumari, Kurigram, and the passenger CNG auto-rickshaw. The victims include three women and three men.
