At least ten journalists working at Jamuna Television and The Daily Jugantor were injured and some 16 vehicles vandalised by unidentified miscreants at a guest house in Dhaka’s Nawabganj on Monday night.
Azharul Haq, staff reporter of Daily Jugantor, said some 30 journalists of private channel Jamuna Television and Daily Jugantor rented Shamim Guest House in Kolakupa area in the upazila.
A gang of miscreants suddenly entered the rest house around 10:30pm and started vandalizing vehicles parked downstairs, he said.
Hearing the sound of vandalism, journalists came out from the room and then the miscreants swopped on them, injuring at least 10 newsmen, he continued.
He also said that Shamim Khan, Dhamrai correspondent of Jugantor, has been missing since the incident.
Contacted, Nawabganj Police Station Sub-Inspector Kamrul Islam said, "We are now on the spot and found several vehicles vandalized.
“We will find out the miscreants involved in the incident and legal action will be taken against them,” he said.
