A devastating road accident occurred in the Bakhunda area of Faridpur when a local bus lost control, crashed into an electric pole, and overturned into a roadside ditch. The accident claimed the lives of five people and left at least 35 others injured.
The incident took place around 11:15 am on Tuesday, in front of the Sharif Jute Mill. The bus, named 'Faria Paribahan,' was traveling from Muksudpur to Faridpur when the driver reportedly lost control.
Local residents, along with fire service teams, quickly responded to the scene and began rescue operations. According to Md Nazrul Islam, Senior Station Officer of the Faridpur Fire Service, the bus was carrying approximately 40 passengers at the time of the accident.
"Five people have died, and 35 others were injured—many of them critically. The injured have been rushed to Faridpur Medical College Hospital," he said, adding that more information will be shared as details emerge.
Atiar Rahman, the ward master at Faridpur Medical College Hospital, confirmed that five of the victims were declared dead upon arrival at the hospital.
