M Abdus Salam, a valiant freedom fighter, has officially assumed the role of Administrator for the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC).

The formal handover took place on Tuesday, as he took charge from the Minister for Local Government, Rural Development (LGRD) and Cooperatives and BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.

The appointment was made via a presidential order, finalized through a gazette notification signed by Joint Secretary Mahbuba Iyreen.

According to official sources, the transition is designed to inject new dynamism into the DSCC’s administrative operations and enhance the quality of essential citizen services for the capital's southern residents.

In his new capacity, Abdus Salam is expected to focus primarily on spearheading major development projects and streamlining overall urban management.

His leadership comes at a critical time as the government seeks to modernize city governance and ensure more efficient delivery of public utilities and infrastructure improvements.
