Five Killed as Fire Ravages Gas Lighter Factory in Keraniganj

A devastating fire at a gas lighter factory in the Kadamtoli Gol Chattar area of Keraniganj has claimed the lives of at least five people.

The blaze, which broke out early Saturday afternoon, left a trail of destruction before fire crews were able to contain the flames.

According to Fire Service and Civil Defence officials, the fire originated at approximately 1:11 pm.

Emergency responders acted swiftly, with seven firefighting units arriving at the scene by 1:16 pm to begin extinguishing efforts. After more than an hour of intense operations, the fire was brought under control at 2:30 pm.

Tragically, rescue teams recovered four charred bodies from the debris of the factory.

As of Saturday, the identities of the deceased remain unconfirmed due to the severity of their injuries.

Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fire and checking if any other workers remain missing within the facility.
