Six security personnel perished Thursday when an improvised roadside explosive device struck a military convoy in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Hangu district, military and police authorities announced Friday.

Concurrently, security elements eliminated 10 suspected insurgents during targeted Thursday intelligence raids spanning North Waziristan and Hangu districts.

Official statements designated the slain combatants as "Khawarij"—state nomenclature for Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) operatives.

TTP operates separately from yet ideologically/tactically aligned with Afghanistan's ruling Taliban (returned 2021).

Islamabad consistently alleges Afghan harbor for cross-border TTP strike assets, a charge Kabul regularly rejects.

Year-to-date friction includes a June militant engagement leaving three Rangers dead and four wounded.
