51,000 Tonnes of Octane and Furnace Oil Due at Chattogram Port Wednesday

Two significant fuel shipments are scheduled to arrive at the Chattogram Port on Wednesday, bolstering the national energy reserve as the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) maintains a steady supply chain despite geopolitical volatility.

According to BPC officials, the first vessel, MT Central Star, is transporting approximately 26,000 tonnes of refined octane from Malaysia.

The Marshall Islands-flagged tanker is expected to reach the port’s outer anchorage within the day.

Simultaneously, a second vessel, MT Eastern Queens, is en route carrying roughly 25,000 tonnes of furnace oil, also slated for arrival at the outer anchorage on Wednesday.

A senior BPC official confirmed that these import operations are being closely supervised to ensure there are no disruptions to the domestic fuel market.

"Despite ongoing tensions in the Middle East, efforts are continuing to ensure uninterrupted fuel imports and stable supply across the country," the official stated.

In addition to the liquid fuel arrivals, the Chattogram Port Authority (CPA) reported recent progress in liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) logistics.

CPA Secretary Syed Refayet Hamim confirmed that two specialized LPG carriers, Cool Voyager and Gas Journey, reached the outer anchorage on April 5, further strengthening the country’s cooking gas and industrial energy stocks.
