North West University Student Found Dead in Khulna Residence

Police recovered the hanging body of a university student from a house in the city’s Nirala residential area late Monday night.

The deceased, identified as Utsab Roy, was a student at North West University, Khulna, and the son of Konok Kanti Roy from Ramnagar village in Dacope upazila.

Acting on information provided by local residents around 10:30 pm, a police team arrived at House No. F-85 on Road No. 7 in the Nirala area.

They discovered the body in a room on the sixth floor of the building at approximately 11:30 pm.

According to preliminary police findings, the student had allegedly been struggling with depression recently and is suspected to have taken his own life by hanging from a ceiling fan.

Md Shafiqul Islam, Officer-in-Charge of Khulna Sadar Police Station, confirmed that the family of the deceased has been notified of the tragedy.

He added that legal formalities are currently being processed, after which the body will be handed over to the family for final rites.
