The scenic hill district of Khagrachhari is witnessing a gradual surge in tourist arrivals during the ongoing Eid-ul-Azha holidays, revitalizing hopes among local tourism stakeholders for a bustling vacation season.

While visitor turnouts remained relatively low on the day of Eid itself, popular attractions across the region—including the Alutila Tourist Centre, Khagrachhari Zila Parishad Horticulture Park, and Richhang Waterfall—began drawing significantly larger crowds starting Friday morning.

So far, the influx consists predominantly of domestic tourists, many of whom have traveled alongside family and friends to immerse themselves in the district’s vibrant green hills, cascading waterfalls, tranquil lakes, and unique natural landscapes.

Local tour operators strongly expect these numbers to scale up further over the coming days as holidaymakers from various corners of the country continue to arrive during the extended Eid break.

Many visitors expressed deep admiration for Khagrachhari’s pristine natural beauty, particularly highlighting the Alutila Tourist Centre and its famous mysterious cave.

Travelers described the experience of walking through the naturally formed cave as both highly exciting and memorable, offering a rare, adventurous escape amid the tranquil hill environment.

“Many people travel abroad to enjoy nature, but destinations like Khagrachhari show that Bangladesh itself has extraordinary beauty waiting to be explored,” remarked a tourist who was visiting Alutila with his family.

The district’s rolling hills, serene lakes, and waterfalls have long secured its reputation as one of the most sought-after destinations in the Chittagong Hill Tracts.

However, despite the current upward trend in tourist arrivals, local hotel and resort owners noted that overall room bookings have yet to fully meet their initial expectations.

Rajib Dey, the assistant manager of Hotel Aronnyo Bilas, remains optimistic, expressing hope that occupancy rates will improve significantly over the remaining days of the holiday as more visitors finalize last-minute travel plans.

To guarantee the safety and security of all vacationers, the Tourist Police have implemented special precautionary measures throughout the district.

Assistant Sub-Inspector of Tourist Police Nayan Barua confirmed that dedicated police personnel have been actively deployed at all major tourist spots, while mobile patrol teams are operating continuously to provide immediate assistance and respond swiftly to any emergencies involving visitors.

Beyond the primary sites, Khagrachhari’s other highly popular attractions include its iconic hanging bridge, picturesque lakes, Mayabini Lake, Hatimatha Hill, Debota Pukur, and the Toiduchhara Waterfall.

With its breathtaking landscapes, peaceful environment, and steadily developing tourism infrastructure, Khagrachhari is once again proving to be a favorite Eid holiday destination for nature lovers seeking a refreshing escape from urban life.
