With the week-long Eid-ul-Azha holidays concluding, holidaymakers have begun returning to the capital ahead of the reopening of government and private offices on Monday.

A significant number of people have already made their way back to the capital before the official vacation ends, aiming to circumvent the typical last-minute rush and travel hassles.

Key transit points across the city—including Kamalapur Railway Station, major bus terminals such as Gabtoli, Kalyanpur, Mohakhali, Sayedabad, and Jatrabari, alongside the Sadarghat Launch Terminal—witnessed a moderate stream of passengers heading into Dhaka on Sunday.

Nazmul Hossain, a private-sector employee who reached Dhaka by bus from Chandpur with his family on Sunday morning, shared his travel experience: "I returned a little bit earlier to avoid peak rush. There was no traffic gridlock on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway and the journey was comfortable."

Transport operators noted that the extended seven-day holiday has allowed citizens to travel back from their ancestral villages with relatively less friction.

Both travellers and transport owners mentioned that many individuals have taken additional leaves to extend their stay in their hometowns, which will result in a more gradual return to the capital over the coming days.

Consequently, buses arriving from various regions of the country are currently not experiencing intense passenger pressure.

All government and private offices, banks, financial institutions, and courts are scheduled to fully resume operations on Monday following the conclusion of the seven-day Eid recess.
