Import-export activities at Bhomra Land Port in Satkhira resumed on Monday morning following a seven-day holiday on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.

According to port authorities and stakeholders, all import-export operations between Bangladesh and India had remained suspended from May 25 to May 31 following a joint decision by organizations associated with the port.

However, passenger movement through the immigration checkpoint continued completely uninterrupted during the holiday period.

Abu Musa, general secretary of the Bhomra Land Port C&F Association, stated that the decision to suspend trade activities was taken unanimously after consultations among all organizations linked to the port, including the C&F Agents Association and discussions with India's Ghojadanga C&F Agents Cargo Welfare Association.

He noted that commercial trade activities between the two neighboring countries resumed this morning, successfully restoring business operations and activity at the port.

Tufan Mandal, officer-in-charge of Bhomra Land Port Immigration, confirmed that while import-export operations remained closed throughout the holiday period, passport-holding passengers continued to cross the border as usual.

Bhomra Land Port Authority Deputy Director Mamun Kabir Tarafdar stated that the reopening of import-export operations is expected to help clear pending consignments and significantly boost trade flow through one of the country's important land ports.
