The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), heavily supported by local residents, successfully thwarted multiple attempts by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) to push a total of 20 individuals into Bangladesh territory across the Kurigram and Chuadanga borders early Sunday.

In Kurigram, the BSF attempted to push nine individuals through two distinct points in Roumari upazila on Sunday dawn.

According to BGB and local sources, personnel from the Jalur Char BSF camp under the Dhubri district of India’s Assam state gathered three men, two children and one woman near international boundary pillar no. 1060/1-S with the intention of pushing them across the Goytapara border.

A joint resistance mounted by BGB members and local villagers successfully foiled the attempt.

However, BSF members left all six individuals stranded in the open field adjacent to the border barbed-wire fencing.

Simultaneously, BSF made another attempt to push three individuals through the Bhandurchar border area near the Baraibari Border Outpost (BOP).

That attempt was also rendered unsuccessful through the prompt intervention of the BGB and locals.

Lieutenant Colonel Hasanur Rahman, Commanding Officer of Jamalpur-35 BGB Battalion, confirmed the developments in Kurigram.

"The BSF attempted to push in nine individuals, including women, children, and men, but failed in the face of resistance from the BGB and local residents. We have called upon the BSF for a flag meeting regarding this matter," Lt. Col. Hasanur Rahman stated.

In a separate incident on the same morning, a similar push-in attempt involving 11 individuals was foiled at the Darshana-Joynagar border area in Chuadanga due to a strict stance maintained by the BGB.

Border guards reported that around 4 am on Sunday, BSF personnel gathered 11 individuals on the Indian side of the border near main pillar no. 75, adjacent to the Darshana international checkpost, aiming to force them into Bangladesh.

Upon receiving the information, BGB members swiftly took up strategic and alert positions along the line, with local villagers joining them to secure the border.

Sensing the gravity of the situation, the BSF was forced to retreat and subsequently withdrew all 11 individuals away from the zero-line area.

Lieutenant Colonel Nazmul Hasan, Director of Chuadanga-6 BGB Battalion, detailed the operational response at the checkpost.

"The BSF made repeated attempts to execute a push-in. The BGB successfully resisted and thwarted their efforts. The individuals in question were later moved away from the border area by the BSF," Lt. Col. Nazmul Hasan confirmed.

Following both incidents, border guards have stepped up vigilance and patrolling along the frontier zones to prevent any further unilateral entry attempts.
