Vigilant troops of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) successfully foiled an illegal attempt by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) to push eight individuals across the riverine border in Daulatpur upazila, Kushtia early Friday morning.

The tension unfolded around 5:10 am near border pillar 152/1-S in the Jaipur area of Pragpur Union.

According to official BGB sources, personnel from the BSF’s 146 Battalion, based at the Char Meghna camp, attempted to force a group of eight unidentified individuals—comprising two men, four women, and two transgender individuals—to cross into Bangladeshi territory by swimming across the river.

Detecting the movement, an alert BGB patrol team rapidly deployed along the riverbank and blocked their path.

Confronted by the BGB's steadfast resistance, the group was unable to land on Bangladeshi soil and was forced to swim back into Indian territory, completely neutralizing the push-in maneuver.

Confirming the incident, Lieutenant Colonel Rashed Kamal Roni, Commanding Officer of Kushtia BGB 47 Battalion, reaffirmed the force's strict posture along the frontier.

"BGB remains on high alert and fully prepared at all times to prevent any form of illegal entry, intrusion, or violation of border laws," he stated.

This incident marks another repeated border dispute in the area.

Previously on June 12, a similar push-in attempt involving 12 individuals, including children, was thwarted by BGB.

That group remained stranded in a jute field along the zero line for several days before BSF eventually took them back.
