Separate attempts by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) to forcibly push individuals into Bangladesh through the Chapainawabganj and Jamalpur borders were successfully thwarted by the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and local residents on Monday night.

Following these incidents, vigil and patrolling have been intensified along the frontier areas.

In Chapainawabganj, the push-in attempt took place at the Rokonpur border under Gomastapur Upazila.

According to BGB sources, at around 10:45 pm on Monday, personnel from the RK Wada Camp of India’s 88 Battalion BSF, with the assistance of a local boatman, attempted to push a woman into Bangladesh via a boat opposite international boundary pillar 225/3-R in the Rokonpur BOP area.

Upon receiving the information, a BGB patrol team swiftly rushed to the spot and took necessary measures with the assistance of local residents, successfully foils the attempt.

The woman was later seen positioned inside Indian territory near the zero line of the border.

Confirming the incident, the Commanding Officer of Naogaon Battalion (16 BGB) stated that security has been heightened in the border areas since the incident.

Along with close monitoring of the situation, round-the-clock surveillance and patrolling have been strengthened.

He emphasized that the BGB remains on high alert to prevent any form of illegal infiltration or push-in attempts across the border.

Currently, the situation at the Rokonpur border remains normal, with locals actively cooperating with the vigilant BGB forces.

In a similar development on the same night in Jamalpur, another push-in attempt was foiled by the Jamalpur 35 BGB and local citizens at the Dewanganj border.

According to BGB and local sources, at around 10 pm on Monday, the BSF attempted to forcefully push a young man into Bangladesh through the Madhyarchar border area near international boundary pillar 1078.

As the news spread, BGB personnel and local residents immediately took up strategic positions along the Bangladeshi side of the border. Due to the strict guard maintained by the BGB and locals, the BSF's attempt was ultimately frustrated.

Following the failed attempt, the youth remains stranded on the zero line, while both BGB and BSF personnel maintain a cautious and alert stance on either side of the border.

Sources noted that the BSF has made similar attempts to push people through the Jamalpur border in the past as well.

Lieutenant Colonel Hasanur Rahman, Commanding Officer of Jamalpur 35 BGB, confirmed the matter, stating, "An attempt was made last night to illegally push an individual through our Jhaudanga border in Dewanganj. The BGB currently remains on high alert to thwart any such push-in attempts."
