The mortal remains of an expatriate Bangladeshi laborer originating from the Kalaroa upazila of Satkhira, who perished in an alleged Israeli unmanned aerial vehicle strike within Lebanon, arrived at his native village during Sunday morning, plunging his relatives and community members into deep mourning.

The victim was identified as Shuvo Das, a resident of Shripatipur village situated within the upazila.

His remains were repatriated to his homestead at approximately 10 am, roughly three months and 25 days subsequent to his demise resulting from an aerial bombardment inside a combat theater in southern Lebanon on May 11.

Shuvo stood as the second among four siblings, comprising three brothers and a single sister.

Family members related that he migrated to Lebanon approximately two and a half years ago following the liquidation of two decimals of their residential plot to finance the migration expenditures.

He has ultimately returned to his dwelling enclosed within a casket, leaving his household utterly broken.

His cremation is scheduled to take place at a regional cremation facility following the afternoon hours.

Shafiqul Islam, aged 43, hailing from Purbapara village within Sadar upazila, alongside Nahidul Islam, aged 22, originating from Kadakathi village under Ashashuni upazila in Satkhira, were similarly slain during the Israeli drone assault.

The corpses of those two individuals were repatriated to their respective native localities on June 7.

Moin Uddin, serving as a counselor at the Khulna divisional directorate under the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment, conveyed that the administration delivered a financial draft valued at BDT 85,000 to the bereaved family on Saturday night.

He stated that the household is slated to obtain an additional BDT 300,000 within the current month, alongside a supplemental allocation of BDT 1 million drawn from life insurance coverage following the passage of a few months.
