Law enforcement retrieved the deceased body of thirteen-year-old Opritom—a Class VII student at Border Guard Public School and sole son of KM Firoz Shahriar and Comilla University Bangla department associate professor Dr. Nahida Begum—from a wooded area in Cumilla's Kotbari sector Saturday following his disappearance Friday.
Opritom departed his Kotbari residence under Sadar Dakshin Thana around 3:30 pm on Friday carrying his mother's iPhone to photograph peers, prompting a general diary filing by his father Friday night at Sadar Dakshin Police Station.
Processing surveillance footage spanning surrounding zones and Comilla University led police to the forest recovery, according to Sadar Dakshin Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Rakibul Islam.
"The boy had severe injury marks on his head. We are investigating the incident," he stated.
