
Bangladesh Bank (BB) on Thursday purchased USD 100 million from six commercial banks utilizing multiple auction methods, in a move to manage currency liquidity.
According to central bank data, the dollars were bought at a settled rate of BDT 122.75 each.
With this latest transaction, the central bank's total purchases have reached USD 565 million so far in May 2026, bringing total fiscal year accumulations to USD 6,238.50 million for FY 2025–26.
Sources stated that Bangladesh Bank purchased the greenback as part of its ongoing market strategy to stabilize the Taka against the US dollar and revitalize remittance and export inflows.
