The Bangladesh Jeweller's Association (BAJUS) has implemented a fresh price hike for gold in the domestic market, raising the rate of 22-carat gold to BDT 2,46,110 per bhori.
The new pricing was formally announced in a notice released Saturday morning and came into effect at 10 am the same day.
According to the trade organization, an upward trend in pure gold prices across the local market necessitated the rate revision, which is inclusive of Value Added Tax (VAT).
Under the updated structure, 21-carat gold has been fixed at BDT 2,35,030 per bhori (11.664 grams) while 18-carat gold stands at BDT 2,01,846 per bhori.
The price for traditional gold has been revised to BDT 1,64,812 per bhori.
BAJUS clarified that the revised rates will remain binding across all retail jewelry establishments until further notice, though making charges will continue to vary based on artistic design.
Because VAT is already integrated into the baseline price of gold and silver ornaments, retail jewellers are prohibited from collecting additional VAT separately from buyers.
The association added that its standing policy regarding ornament exchange and repurchase—which excludes specified VAT, making charges, and stone costs—remains completely unchanged.
BAJUS last revised gold prices on August 20, when the rate for 22-carat gold, including VAT, was increased by BDT 3,849 to reach BDT 2,40,628 per bhori.
During that previous adjustment, 21-carat gold was priced at BDT 2,29,781 per bhori, 18-carat gold at BDT 1,97,355 per bhori, and traditional gold at BDT 1,61,196 per bhori, with those rates also taking effect at 10 am.
With Saturday's update, BAJUS has altered gold prices 106 times so far in 2026, marking 54 upward revisions, 51 price reductions, and one VAT adjustment.
Silver prices were similarly adjusted alongside gold.
The price for 22-carat silver, inclusive of VAT, rose by BDT 175 to BDT 5,482 per bhori.
The newly established rate for 21-carat silver is BDT 5,249 per bhori while 18-carat silver stands at BDT 4,491 per bhori, and traditional silver is set at BDT 3,383 per bhori.
Throughout 2026, BAJUS has revised silver prices a total of 64 times, reflecting 34 upward adjustments and 30 rate cuts.
