The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has reduced bullion rates by BDT 7,115 for every bhori following four successive upward adjustments, establishing the cost for 22-carat yellow metal at BDT 2,40,628 per bhori inclusive of value-added tax.
The updated pricing structure became operational at 10 am on Saturday, according to an official notification issued by BAJUS.
The trade organization explained that the valuation of domestically acquired pure Tejabi gold had dropped, triggering the revision following a thorough evaluation of prevailing market dynamics.
Under the freshly implemented schedule, a single bhori equivalent to 11.664 grams of 22-carat gold will retail at BDT 2,40,628 whereas 21-carat variants are designated at BDT 2,29,781 per bhori.
Furthermore, the tariff for 18-carat gold has been established at BDT 1,97,355 per bhori while ornaments crafted under conventional methods will command BDT 1,61,196 per bhori.
BAJUS announced that these modified valuations will stay enforced across all retail jewellery establishments until subsequent announcements are made.
Nonetheless, crafting fees will be levied additionally based on the craftsmanship and patterns of individual ornaments.
Given that value-added tax is pre-incorporated into the retail figures for both gold and silver adornments, merchants are strictly prohibited from demanding extra VAT payments separately from buyers.
BAJUS additionally clarified that its preexisting guidelines will continue governing buyback and exchange procedures, excluding the specified tax component, making charges, and gem valuations.
This most recent market adjustment arrives four days subsequent to BAJUS elevating rates by BDT 1,633 per bhori on August 25, which had fixed 22-carat gold at BDT 2,47,743 per bhori with VAT included.
Throughout the current calendar year, precious metal prices have undergone 108 modifications within the domestic marketplace, reflecting 55 upward revisions, 52 reductions, and a single adjustment attributed exclusively to tax changes.
Simultaneously alongside gold adjustments, BAJUS has likewise lowered silver prices by BDT 1,75 per bhori.
The updated rate for 22-carat silver has been finalized at BDT 5,307 per bhori inclusive of tax.
Meanwhile, the values for 21-carat and 18-carat silver have been pegged at BDT 5,074 and BDT 4,374 per bhori respectively.
Traditional-system silver will require an expenditure of BDT 3,324 per bhori. Silver valuations have experienced 65 alterations this year, comprising 34 increases and 31 markdowns.
