All branches of banks in the Chattogram port area will remain open 24 hours in all week days to facilitate commercial transaction. Bangladesh Bank has issued a circular in this regard on Sunday.
Bangladesh Bank has sent the order to the chief executives of all banks following direction from the Prime Minister’s Office.
The circular said, earlier in a letter issued from Prime Minister’s Office on March 29 it was told to take necessary measures for keeping the banks in Agrabad area open 24 hours in all the week days.
On pretext of the direction, all the branches of banks in the area associated with Chattogram port and customs are told to remain open for 24 hours on seven days a week following ensuring adequate security arrangements.
The circular also mentioned that the banks if necessary can consult with the Chattogram port and custom authorities for taking steps to keep their branches open.
