Following a prolonged suspension due to floods and adverse weather conditions, the HSC and equivalent examinations under the Chittagong Education Board resumed on Monday (July 27). Nearly three weeks later, approximately 100,000 examinees under the board have returned to the exam halls.
According to the revised routine published by the Chittagong Education Board, exams for Civics and Good Governance (First Paper), Biology (Theoretical) (First Paper), and Business Organization and Management (First Paper) commenced this morning at 10:00 AM. The Food and Nutrition (First Paper) examination is scheduled for the afternoon session.
Simultaneously, examinations are taking place in accordance with previously announced schedules across the other nine general education boards, the Madrasa Education Board, and the Technical Education Board. Under the Madrasa Education Board, Alim examinees are sitting for Islamic History, Physics (Theoretical) (Second Paper), and Tajweed (Second Paper - Mujawwid Mahir division). Meanwhile, HSC (BMT) candidates under the Technical Education Board are participating in the Human Resources Management-1 examination.
All remaining HSC and equivalent examinations for 2026 under the Chittagong Education Board were postponed on July 16 until further notice, taking into account post-flood conditions, disrupted communication systems in affected areas, and the physical and mental well-being of the examinees.
Under the same decision, remaining papers for Alim, HSC (BMT), HSC (Vocational), and Diploma-in-Commerce examinations were also put on hold.
With the improvement of the situation and following approval from the Ministry of Education, Minister of Education and Primary and Mass Education Dr. A.N.M. Ehsanul Haq Milan announced on July 23 that the suspended examinations under the Chittagong Board would resume starting July 27.
Consequently, tests are being conducted according to the currently active regular routine. However, a new schedule for the exams that were originally slated to take place before the suspension order will be published at a later date.
Notably, HSC and equivalent examinations under the Chittagong Education Board had been suspended since July 8, while tests continued uninterrupted across all other education boards in the country according to pre-announced schedules.
This year, a total of 1,270,583 registered candidates are participating in the HSC and equivalent examinations across the nine general education boards, the Madrasa Education Board, and the Technical Education Board.
Of these, 99,688 examinees are under the Chittagong Education Board, taking tests across 114 centers. Nationwide, a total of 9,439 educational institutions and 2,697 centers have been designated for these examinations.
