The measles outbreak in Bangladesh continues to claim lives, with four additional deaths reported in the last 24 hours.

According to a press release from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Integrated Control Center, one of the fatalities was a laboratory-confirmed case of measles, while the other three were patients with suspected measles symptoms.

Health authorities identified 1,197 new suspected cases and 165 laboratory-confirmed cases nationwide during this 24-hour period.

Since the current surge began on March 15, the total number of confirmed measles patients has reached 3,443 while suspected cases have climbed to 23,606.

Of these, 12,396 individuals have recovered and been discharged from hospitals.

The cumulative death toll since mid-March now stands at 36 from confirmed measles and 181 from suspected cases.

Dhaka Division remains the hardest-hit region, recording 10,343 suspected infections, of which 2,194 have been laboratory-confirmed.

The DGHS is closely monitoring the escalating situation through its Integrated Control Center, focusing on data analysis to manage the outbreak.

In addition to ensuring medical facilities are prepared for patient care, the health directorate has urged the public to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions.
