Bangladesh reported five deaths from dengue fever in the 24 hours leading up to 8 am on Monday, marking the highest single-day death toll from the mosquito-borne disease this year.

According to the latest data released by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), these fatalities have brought the total number of dengue-related deaths in the country to 18 for the current year.

Measles Death Toll Hits 716 in Bangladesh, Suspected Cases Surpass 1 Lakh

In addition to the rise in mortality, health officials confirmed that 124 new dengue patients were hospitalized across the country during the same 24-hour period.

This recent influx of patients brings the cumulative number of hospital admissions for dengue in 2026 to 5,924.

For historical context regarding the disease's recent impact, Bangladesh reported a total of 102,861 dengue cases and 413 related deaths throughout the calendar year of 2025.
