Five children lost their lives presenting measles-like indicators during the twenty-four hours leading up to 8 am on Friday, elevating the nation’s cumulative count of verified and probable measles fatalities to 960 for the year.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) categorized all five of these recent deaths as suspected measles mortalities.

With these additions, the overall number of probable measles casualties has climbed to 861, while verified fatalities resulting from the disease remain steady at 99.

Measles Toll Rises to 955 as Five More Children Die

An aggregate of 1,100 fresh suspected measles instances were documented during this same twenty-four-hour timeframe, lifting the nationwide aggregate of probable cases to 154,792.

Concurrently, 70 new verified measles infections were logged, bringing the total tally of laboratory-confirmed cases to 18,796.

Dating back to March 15 of this year, a total of 135,473 patients displaying suspected measles symptoms have been admitted to hospitals across the country, out of which 130,457 have successfully recuperated, based on figures provided by the DGHS.
