The ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran has taken a severe turn. In this situation, UN Secretary-General António Guterres has warned that if it escalates further, no one will be able to control it.
He made these remarks in a post on social media platform X on Friday (June 20).
António Guterres wrote, "The conflict between Israel and Iran is rapidly escalating, bringing dire consequences. Civilians are being killed and injured. Homes and civilian infrastructure are being destroyed. Nuclear facilities are being attacked."
He further added, "The spread of this ongoing conflict between the two countries could ignite a fire that no one will be able to control. We must not allow that to happen."
It's worth noting that Israel suddenly launched an attack on Iran on the night of June 13. In this operation, named 'Operation Rising Lion,' Zionist forces attacked various military installations, nuclear research centers, and residential areas in Iran, including the capital Tehran.
The attack resulted in the deaths of at least several hundred people, including Iran's Armed Forces Chief Mohammad Bagheri, Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Chief Commander Hossein Salami, Khatam al-Anbiya Headquarters Commander and senior Revolutionary Guards officer Major General Gholam Ali Rashid, and six nuclear scientists.
In retaliation for Israel's attack, Iran launched 'Operation True Promise-3' on Friday night. Tehran's ballistic missiles are penetrating Israel's advanced air defense system and hitting important targets. Although casualties are low, Israel is suffering extensive damage. Zionists are in shelters due to fear of Iranian attacks. The conflict between the two countries is still ongoing.
