The Middle East has spiraled into an unprecedented military conflict following a massive, coordinated air campaign launched by the United States and Israel against the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Early Saturday morning, a barrage of "preemptive" strikes—codenamed Operation Shield of Judah (USA) and Operation Roaring Lion (Israel)—rocked Tehran and several other major cities, including Isfahan, Qom, and Kermanshah.

President Donald Trump, in a televised address from the White House, announced that the US has officially entered "major combat operations" to eliminate an "existential threat," dismantle Iran's nuclear program, and topple the current regime.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised the "historic leadership" of the US, stating that the joint action aims to "empower the brave Iranian people to take their fate into their own hands."

The regional fallout was instantaneous. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared there are "no red lines" and launched a massive retaliatory wave of missiles and drones.

This counter-offensive has not only targeted northern Israel but has expanded to US military installations and assets across the Gulf. Explosions and sirens have been reported in the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia.

In Abu Dhabi, one person was tragically killed by falling shrapnel, marking the first known casualty of the Iranian counterattack.

The escalation has effectively shut down civil aviation across the region. Israel, Iraq, and the UAE have closed their airspaces, while international carriers—including Wizz Air, Lufthansa, and KLM—have suspended all regional flights.

Amidst the chaos, Iranian-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen have vowed to resume attacks on Red Sea shipping routes, threatening to further destabilize global trade.
