In a significant move to bolster European ties, Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri arrived in Berlin on Tuesday for high-level Foreign Office consultations.

This visit marks a continuation of the momentum generated by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s successful trip to India in January 2026, signaling a period of robust diplomatic exchange between the two nations.

During his stay in the German capital, Foreign Secretary Misri will co-chair the India-Germany Foreign Office Consultations alongside State Secretary Geza Andreas von Geyr.

The agenda is set to be comprehensive, covering a vast range of bilateral interests including:

Defense and Security: Strengthening strategic cooperation.

Trade and Investment: Expanding economic footprints in both markets.

Green Energy and Technology: Collaborative efforts in innovation and sustainable development.

Education and People-to-People Ties: Enhancing cultural and academic exchanges.

The Indian Embassy in Berlin noted on X (formerly Twitter) that the visit "reflects continued regular high-level exchanges between India and Berlin."

Beyond the formal consultations, Misri is expected to hold meetings with various senior government officials and dignitaries.

The Berlin leg follows a productive visit to Paris on Monday, where Misri co-chaired the India-France Foreign Office Consultations with Secretary General Martin Briens.

Discussions in France focused on cutting-edge sectors such as civil nuclear energy, space, and AI innovation.

Misri also met with French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Noël Barrot to discuss pressing global challenges, including the ongoing situation in the Middle East.

This two-nation tour, spanning April 12–14, 2026, underscores India's strategic priority to deepen partnerships with Europe’s leading economies.
