President Masoud Pezeshkian has made it clear that the United States cannot bring Iran to the negotiating table through pressure or threats, according to reports from Iran's state broadcaster, IRIB.

In a telephone conversation with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, President Pezeshkian stated that current U.S. actions are eroding mutual trust and further complicating the path to dialogue.

Pezeshkian emphasized that no progress is possible unless Washington ceases its "hostile behavior and creation of pressure."

The Iranian President further noted that to create an environment for talks, the U.S. must first remove all "functional barriers." Chief among these requirements is the lifting of the blockade on ships operating in Iranian ports.

The Pakistan Prime Minister’s Office reported that during the call, Shehbaz Sharif assured Islamabad's full cooperation in maintaining regional peace and security.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Shehbaz Sharif expressed his gratitude for the high-level Iranian delegation, led by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, that visited Islamabad in an effort to end the conflict. The delegation departed Islamabad on Saturday for Muscat, Oman, for the next round of regional discussions.

Meanwhile, U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and President Donald Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner, were scheduled to visit Islamabad yesterday. However, President Trump canceled their trip at the last minute.
