The President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Min Aung Hlaing, is set to pay an official visit to India from May 30 to June 3, following an invitation from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Myanmar President will be accompanied by a high-level delegation that includes several Cabinet Ministers, senior government officials, and prominent business leaders.

According to a statement released by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs on Thursday, this will mark President Min Aung Hlaing’s first official visit to India in his current capacity.

He was initially scheduled to visit India to participate in the International Big Cat Alliance Summit on June 1, which has since been deferred.

Myanmar occupies a strategic position at the confluence of India's major foreign policy initiatives, including the "Neighborhood First" policy, the "Act East" policy, and the "MAHASAGAR" (Maritime Security and Growth for All in the Region) vision.

This official state visit is widely expected to further strengthen and deepen the multi-faceted bilateral relations shared between the two neighboring nations.

During his scheduled stay in New Delhi, President Min Aung Hlaing will hold high-level bilateral discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 1, focusing on further strengthening the historical and civilizational ties between the two countries. Additionally, the visiting President will participate in a bilateral business forum.

As part of his itinerary, President Min Aung Hlaing is also scheduled to travel to the historic site of Bodh Gaya on May 30, 2026, and will later visit Mumbai on June 2 for business and industry interactions alongside various site visits.
